Welcome to Arden Acres Miniature Horses.  We are a family operated farm located in Northeast Washington State.  Together with our son and two daughters, we raise, train, breed and spoil about twenty-five miniature horses.  We have searched the country from coast to coast for our collection of miniatures.  Our goal is to  breed  national champions.  Please take the time to view our site, where you will find miniature appaloosas, pintos and micro-minis with pedigrees that carry the bloodlines that have been the mainstay of the miniature horse world.

2002 Western Regional Grand Champion Sr. Stallion 28 and under

At Arden Acres Miniature Horses all horses are registered with the American Miniature Horse Association. We have three breeding programs. The Appaloosa program sired by OP Simply Sombrero. The micro mini pinto program sired by 27.5in Stormy Rivers Thisonesforthegirls. And what we call the Buckeroo program where we tip our hat to the Little King Farm and the bloodlines of Boones Little Buckeroo. At Arden Acres we are proud to stand Rocky Runs Butterscotch Buckeroo a third generation buckskin grandson of Boones Little Buckeroo

The Appaloosa program has a blend of Falabella, British, and American miniature Appaloosa bloodlines. The micro mini pinto program is all 28in and under miniatures with many national champions in their pedigrees. All the mares in the Buckeroo program have at least one national grand champion within the grand parents of its pedigree.

When we first discovered miniature horses we lived on the out skirts of the city on one and a half acres. We purchased a miniature horse for grandpa for his birthday. The next thing you know grandma had to have one, then we had to get a couple, and of coarse our daughters had to have one. You get the picture. Before we knew it we were looking for more acreage. After looking for about a year we settled in the beautiful horse community of Arden Washington. We call it that because almost every one has horses. Our farm is bordered by Arabians on one side, Quarter horses on the other, And Appaloosas to the north.

We would like to tell you a little about how we set up our miniature breeding facility. The property was well fenced on all sides. To protect our minis from their larger neighbors we built a fence within a fence around the outside perimeter of the property. The new field fence separates the minis from the old barb wire and electric fence used for the big horses next door. It also serves as a fire lane around the property. Here in the Inland northwest we have 4 seasons. Cold snowy winters and hot summers. There were many factors to consider before setting up our farm. We wanted to leave plenty of room for turning around horse trailers, and leave space for parking and utility storage. We have a large park like yard that we surrounded by a U shaped path. Then we ran underground water and electric lines to all the areas set for building. We visited many farms to get ideas. One thing that we were sure of was that we wanted each horse to have plenty of room to run, and we wanted to keep the horses in a herd environment whenever possible. We put the mares on one end and separated their pastures with the gelding area. Then we added the stallion row with the arena and training area separating them from the young colt pens and the Weanling barn. It is an ongoing process. But the end result is an easy to maintain facility.

All barns at Arden Acres are custom built for miniature horses. The main barn is a breeze way design. It has a tack room, Two birthing stalls and a hospital quarantine stall with video cams so we can keep an eye on them from the house. Each stall has its own paddock. The rear of the barn is an open area that serves as a loafing shed for the main mare herd. Behind it is a large pasture that leads to two rotating pastures. The "Mareternity" ward has a tack room and two 10x10 birthing stalls equipped with video cams. It has a large paddock where our baby's learn to run along side their mothers for the first time without interference from other horses. The Mare Motel is a shed row style barn. This is where we house outside mares that are at our farm for breeding. It has 4 separate stalls with feeders so every one gets there share. There is a football field size paddock so our visitors will feel at home. The Weanling barn is where the baby's go once its time to leave their mothers. It is an open shed row design with 4-way wind brake. It has a large paddock so the baby's can run and play and build strong legs. The weanling barn is located at the other end of the path out of sight from the mare area. The weanling pasture can be seen from the Old Arden Highway that goes by our farm. The baby's stop a lot of traffic. Its also viewable from our front yard and house so we can keep an eye on those babies. The Stallion barns at Arden Acres are all self contained. Each one has a good sized paddock that can accommodate the stallion and a few mares. The paddocks share a turn out pasture so the stallions can take turns running. All the fencing in the stallion area is separated so they can't get into trouble. The stallion area is also buffered by the training area that has a round pen and carting arena.

The barns are all situated on the horse shoe path that surrounds the yard and house on 3 sides. This makes it easy to take care of feeding and chores in one sweep. The path is also great for farm tours. We have hundreds of visitors each year and are happy to show folks around our facility.

We also raise Beautiful Border Collies.

Every couple of years we have a litter. We call them our domestic Border Collies because they are trained not to nip the horses. They are wonderful dogs and make great farm protectors, agility, fly ball, you name it we have had pups that have gone on to do it all. These dogs have been in the family for years and we are now raising 3rd generation pups. If you are interested in a puppy from our next litter please call or e-mail us to get on the waiting list.
